After a trial which lasted 28 days, Chip Spina obtained a decision in favor of the firm’s client Illinois Emcasco Insurance Company and against Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, which will result in entry of a multi-million judgment in Emcasco’s favor. The case was based upon Nationwide’s bad faith failure to settle a construction accident case prior to verdict within its policy limits, and thereby protect Emcasco’s umbrella policy from exposure. When the injury case was not settled for the 1.9 million demand, the jury returned a verdict for $7.1 million.
