Biography

Jennifer Lee’s practice is centered on Products Liability Litigation, International Law and Litigation, General Tort Litigation, and Commercial Litigation in the federal and state court systems. Jennifer has over a decade of experience working extensively on a broad array of products liability and premises liability matters, business and complex commercial litigation matters, insurance coverage litigation, financial services litigation, white collar fraud and defense, and internal investigations, at both the trial court and appellate court levels.  Jennifer also regularly counsels clients on litigation risk management and the preparation of all manner of commercial contracts. Jennifer currently serves as national counsel for a variety of product manufacturers and other institutional clients, including foreign-based multinational corporations involved in multi-million dollar litigation in state and federal courts across the country.  Jennifer is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) and French.

A graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service (B.S.F.S. 2006, magna cum laude) and the University of Wisconsin Law School (J.D. 2009), Jennifer is a member of the Illinois bar and the Wisconsin bar. Jennifer has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.  Jennifer has also been admitted to practice on a pro hac vice basis in many states throughout the United States. 

Jennifer is an active member of the Asian American Bar Association, the Chinese Bar Association, and the Wisconsin Bar Association.

Representative Matters
  • Jennifer successfully obtained the dismissal of a Chinese insurance company based on forum non conveniens in a coverage action in Oregon.
  • Jennifer successfully obtained the dismissal of a Chinese client based on lack of personal jurisdiction and on improper service of process in a property damage case in Delaware.
  • Jennifer successfully obtained the dismissal of an Australian client and a Canadian client based on lack of personal jurisdiction in a catastrophic, high-stakes products liability case in Texas.
  • Jennifer successfully obtained the dismissal of a Chinese product manufacturer and its parent holding company based on lack of personal jurisdiction in a high-stakes, multi-million dollar products liability case.  The case went up on appeal, and the Illinois Appellate Court upheld the dismissal.
  • Jennifer successfully obtained the dismissal of two lawsuits filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County by airline passengers who alleged that they were injured at O'Hare International Airport.
  • Jennifer obtained a $2.15 million federal-court judgment and $100,000 attorneys’ fees award for an Asian manufacturer of furniture products against a North American distributor.
  • Jennifer defended a North American microelectronics company against a $6 million contract breach lawsuit by an Asian sub-supplier company, successfully resulting in the client not paying out any money damages.
  • Jennifer has managed and handled numerous high-stakes e-discovery matters, including over 50,000 Chinese and French language documents, for multiple white collar investigations, patent infringement and trade secret matters, and commercial disputes.
  • Jennifer has successfully obtained summary judgment and dismissal of numerous corporate defendants in contract breach, products liability, and premises liability cases.
  • Jennifer regularly represents Chinese and Taiwanese product manufacturers in asserting jurisdictional challenges in cases throughout the United States.
